I try to stay away from general politics that doesn’t involve the four horsemen of intellectual property, but I can keep my mouth shut over the New Orleans situation.
First, we have Bush outright lying about people predicting the nature of the disaster. Plenty of people predicted that New Orleans was likely to be flooded after a major hurricane. I knew that, and I was just some guy who reads the newspaper.
Then, we have Bush asking people not to “play politics” over this situation. I’m sorry, but Mr. Bush, perhaps nobody explained your job to you, but the safety and security of U.S. Citizens is a) Your Job and b) exactly what “politics” is about.
But hey, this is your right-wing ideal isn’t it? Surely it’s up to the state governments to handle right? Because the federal government should only be fighting wars on foreign soil.
Bullshit.
I’m not angry about the failure of the emergency services to handle this situation, but I am angry that Bush is trying to convince people that the situation is inevitable and nothing could have been done.
Maybe I’ll write more when I calm down. Perhaps if I can take five weeks of vacation I’ll be able to thing more clearly.
Its a sad day to be an American. This is what happens when we replace qualified people with republican campaign workers.
I have to agree. Did anyone besides me notice that the rescue forces seemed to arrive just about the same time as Mr. Bush?
I felt like he was staging a photo op….Like the time the air craft carrier was returning from the gulf.
I don’t understand how Iraq can have nothing to do with it, when needed funds have been cut at home to pay for Iraq.
Yeah, no kidding. Someone needs to tell these people that prayer is no substitute for competence.
But then again, these are the same assholes who think prayer can cure cancer.
To think the funds expended in Iraq have not deprived Americans of essential services, including repair and upgrading of the countries infrastructure, is nothing less than lunacy. This is only one example, albiet the worst case scenario.
I think the folks in this blog have hit the nail on the head. Hospitals in need of emergency generators still do not have those generators due to the Federal Bureaucrats need to investigate whether there is an actual need for the generators. All I can say is “DUH!!”
What you have seen this week is the result of a government no longer of the people, by the people and for the people. What you have seen this week is a government no longer run by the people, a government which caters to corporate america (oil companies, drug companies, etc.) and not those who make up this once great nation.
Lets not his statement in regard to gasoline supplies and prices; “Don’t buy Gas unless you need it”. As if anyone buys gas just to say that they did, Duh. This is what you get when your not terribly bright and have a rich daddy. He says he likes to delegate and does not duel on the particualrs and it really shows. Could he have been more out of touch and insensitive in regards to the situation?? I doubt it. I think he did wait to show up to get some glory and look good but this time it far worse and there would not be a good time. So, now he plans to return again in a few day for a better photo op. I praise Mayor Nagin of New Orleans in his radio interview which can be found on LATimes.com. Mayor Nagin was honest and said it like it is and was pleading for help. It make you wonder what part of a storm being like “Camile” did he not get?? I now have serious fear that our military could be run just like his idea of relief in Iraq. You don’t win wars by not being organized.
I think we need to run this bunch out of office there is no way that they can explain whats happen here to these poor people they needed help and should have got it asap and that was not five days late if we can get people to the moon we dang sure can fly helicopters in low enought to air lift these people to safety . they sure can use those planes helicopters to drop our boys off in to iraq to get kill I know they said people were shooting at them maybe it was not at them but trying to get them to come help them ?why would they want them to go away ? I do not buy that story or a lot more this hog wash they trying to pass on to us they just using this to jump gas prices sky high for Bush buddies ,
JD has it exactly right. Bush is a shallow “poor little rich kid” who never actually had to deal with any real problems.
Not only do I think we need to run this bunch out of office, but I think there needs to be some SERIOUS investigation into the gas crisis that this country is in.
Not only am I severely appauled at the way the federal government has handled the issue of Hurricane Katrina, but I have become more and more dissapointed at this administration on a day to day basis. I am definately one of those people from the school of “I did not vote for him or his daddy”.
And, to use this severe national crisis to raise the price of gasoline to an absolutely ridiculous amount is not just appauling, it’s simply sickening. Not only do these people not have a home, food, water, etc but now they must spend every last dime that they have to their name to get somewhere in their vehicles to obtain the basic essentials of life. Why did it take the national guard so long to get to New Orleans to control the peace? Haven’t we learned our lesson from the Rodney King incident in LA a few years back?
And one more note…. It seems that Bush had appealed with the religious right of the nation. Which is typically the poorest sector of the nation. For all of the poorest of the poor who voted for Bush simply because you could not handle the idea of two gay people getting married, I have news for you. Not only is that just not the Christian ideal, but I hope the gasoline prices have shown you something. I hope that you have learned from your mistakes this time and also have learned not to make this mistake EVER again.
Wish I had found this site earlier. Incompetent monkey, that Bush guy. A doltish, unintelligent yet evil person and I think he has many doubles as well so the future Hinkleys need not apply.
Can’t fathom the Clinton/Bush Poppy scene (Clinton is in bed with the Bushies as well and this is disturbing to most moderate Democrats). Katrina money raised for the Red Cross–where did it go and why aren’t the victims given large lump sums to begin life anew???? Crooks, we are surrounded by crooks!
